ohai....

Mom is feeling a little better.  She thanks you all for your kind words.  :D

Now on to me!

She is trying to feed me more healthy kibble, the kind you CAN'T buy at a local grocery store.  Trouble is, I'm a super picky boy.  She scored some free samples, and the only way I ate even 6 super tiny pieces, was because she hid it in some peanut butter.  BUT!!!  Even though I said I was ok with it, she said she can't feed me peanut butter for my two meals.
I am sure most of you might suggest to mix it in with the kibble I eat now....see, thing is, mom has been feeding me boiled chicken.  She tried to mix it in with that, and some broth.  But all I did was lick up the broth. I didn't touch the chicken.  Mom was sad that she had to throw it out after 4 hours, because I seriously wouldn't touch it. Oh, she wants some better kibble to mix in with the chicken, just so it will last longer. But she is kind of freaking out, because everything that is supposed to be healthy (in dog food world) are things I won't eat.  Wellness: ick.  Honest Kitchen: SUPER ick!  Frohm: nope.  Evo: that's what she hid in the peanut butter.  I think I spit one piece out now that I think about it.
So, she is curious if any of your could offer any hints or advice.
I don't like: fish, lamb, or potato foods.

I'm all ears.................what do you got?!?!?!?!?!

  1. Buddy, my dear friend.. when I was put on a diet, mama got R/D dog food from my vet. I did not care for that kinda food, you know? After few tries, she stopped giving me treats. No food all day but R/D... "ta da!!" yes, I started to eat R/D and lost 5 lbs. in 2 months. I am back to normal dog food now, I am keeping my weight down - I bet many humans out there are jealous of my success and my figure.... try it. - oh and whenever I get little bigger, she sub steamed grean beans for kibbles, like half and half ratio.

  3. Hi Buddy!
Before The Rupert we had Rue, who needed healthy but not fattening food. We ended up giving her Sojo's but making it like a soup. It filled her up, nourished her, but didn't add lbs. She only had three legs so we had to be careful. Rupert loves his Orijen food. However, I just read a big article in the Whole Dog Journal that says canned food is way better than kibble. Something about how kibble keeps dogs dehydrated and can cause kidney problems. Maybe you would like some good can food?

  4. Hi Tamara
I don't think we have Sojo's here...but I know they sell the orijen. I've often wondered if canned was better than kibble, there is just so much info out there. It can be overwhelming.
I tried Fhrom but will only eat that if it's mixed into something else. :D
    Crazy how I can be such a large boy and super picky still. :@{

  5. Hi Buddy, I don't know if your Mum only wants to do kibble as an option, but when I was dropped off at the Rescue I was overweight and they helped me lose weight on the BARF diet. This means eating what dogs eat naturally. Most kibble has grain in it and we can't digest this.

So she gives us raw meat; like chicken necks, cheap steak cuts etc. and we have a veggie slops with it. How much we get is closely decided by our weight She said if your Mum is interested to have her message her on FB.

  6. hi opaka,
Yeah, mom sought out grain free kibble...but she isn't against canned food either, which I do respond to slightly better.
Mom had heard about BARF, but just can't quite bring herself to let me eat that.....even though that is the natural thing for dogs to do. Her head knows this, but her human knowledge makes her struggle with seeing/knowing I would eat it.
I'll be busy this weekend, but I'll email your mum soon.
